With an incubation time of between 29-32 days, staff and volunteers are expecting the arrival of the 1st peregrien chick at the nest on Nottingham Trent University’s Newton Building to arive any day now….
As the weather warms, wildlife watchers are on the lookout for hatchlings, with many people now avidly viewing their own nest box cams. The Nottingham Trent University peregrine falcon’s eggs are here, having come quite early in March. The 1st egg arrived on the joint earliest date recorded for the Nottingham nest in recent years, but it wasn’t the earliest known peregrine egg this year – that honour went to a pair in London. Eager viewers of the live web cam feed were the first to spot the eggs being laid.
Seeing trees being felled in a wood we have known and loved for many years can bring out a range of emotions. Tree felling can also throw up a range of questions.
We have asked the Head of the Estates Team here at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Charles Langtree, to explain the reasons behind much of the work happening on our nature reserves through the autumn and winter.
